Description

Bring warmth, colour and natural character to your outdoor space with Rustique Porcelain Paving.

Featuring a varied combination of copper, bronze, charcoal and earthy tones, Rustique is designed to recreate the distinctive appearance of weathered slate and naturally aged stone. Each slab contains subtle differences in colour and pattern, helping to create a patio that feels individual rather than uniform.

The generous 900×600mm format provides a spacious and balanced appearance, making it suitable for traditional gardens, contemporary patios, courtyards, pathways and outdoor seating areas.

Why choose Rustique Porcelain?

Rustique Porcelain offers the visual character of natural stone with the practical benefits of vitrified porcelain paving.

Its varied colouring works particularly well in gardens where a plain grey or beige paving slab may feel too uniform. The copper and bronze tones can complement brickwork, timber, planting, stone walls and darker garden features.

Benefits include:

  • Distinctive copper, bronze and charcoal colouring
  • Natural slate-effect appearance
  • Large 900×600mm slab format
  • Durable vitrified porcelain construction
  • Low-maintenance outdoor surface
  • Consistent slab dimensions
  • Suitable for a wide range of garden styles
  • No routine sealing normally required
  • Easy to clean after correct installation

A warm natural-stone appearance

Rustique Porcelain is designed for customers who want paving with noticeable variation and character.

Rather than displaying one flat colour, the slabs contain a mixture of warm and dark tones that imitate the movement found in natural slate. The finished patio can therefore include lighter copper areas, deeper bronze shades and darker charcoal detailing.

This variation is an intentional part of the product’s appearance.

We recommend mixing slabs from different packs during installation. This distributes the shades and patterns more evenly across the completed area.

Suitable outdoor applications

Rustique Porcelain can be used to create:

  • Garden patios
  • Outdoor dining areas
  • Paths and walkways
  • Courtyards
  • Terraces
  • Seating areas
  • Decorative garden features
  • Contrasting patio borders

The warm colouring makes it suitable for both traditional and contemporary properties. It can be paired with neutral walling and furniture for contrast or combined with timber and natural materials for a softer garden design.

900×600mm large-format paving

The 900×600mm slab size creates a clean, spacious layout with fewer joints than smaller paving formats.

It can be installed in a straightforward stretcher-bond arrangement or incorporated into a more detailed garden design. The rectangular dimensions also make it suitable for paths, borders and clearly defined seating areas.

Each slab is approximately 16mm thick. A full pack contains 52 slabs and provides approximately 28.08m² of coverage, excluding installation joints.

Colour and batch variation

Rustique Porcelain is intentionally manufactured with varied colours and patterns. The position and intensity of the copper, bronze and darker tones will differ between individual slabs.

Product photographs and samples should therefore be treated as a guide rather than an exact representation of every slab.

Production batches can also vary slightly. When purchasing paving for one project, order the complete quantity at the same time wherever possible. A later order may come from a different batch and may not be an exact match.

A 100×100mm sample provides a useful indication of the surface, colour and texture, but it cannot display all the variation found across a full 900×600mm slab or complete patio.

Installation guidance

Rustique Porcelain should be installed on a properly prepared and stable paving base by following recognised outdoor porcelain installation methods.

A suitable porcelain paving primer should be applied to the underside of each slab to create a secure bond with the bedding mortar. Follow the instructions supplied with the primer and installation materials.

Before installation:

  1. Check the paving quantity and condition.
  2. Dry-lay several slabs to review the colour variation.
  3. Mix slabs from different packs.
  4. Confirm the finished levels and drainage falls.
  5. Use suitable equipment and porcelain cutting blades.
  6. Follow the recommended joint width for your chosen jointing product.

Do not install paving from one pack at a time, as this may create visible groups of similar shades.

Care and maintenance

Porcelain paving is relatively easy to maintain once correctly installed.

Regular sweeping will remove loose dirt, leaves and garden debris. For general cleaning, use clean water and a suitable cleaner intended for outdoor porcelain.

Avoid using unsuitable acidic or highly abrasive cleaning products. Always test any new cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it across the entire patio.

Spills should be cleaned as soon as reasonably possible, particularly around outdoor dining and barbecue areas.

How much should I order?

Measure the length and width of the area to calculate the approximate square-metre requirement.

Additional paving should be allowed for:

  • Cuts around edges and corners
  • Breakages during installation
  • Complex layouts
  • Future replacements
  • Pattern matching and slab selection

The amount of extra material needed will depend on the shape and complexity of the project. Straight rectangular patios generally create less cutting waste than curved areas or installations containing numerous obstacles.

Samples and smaller quantities

Samples are available for customers who would like to see the colour and surface before placing a larger order.

Please remember that a small cut sample will only show one section of the design. Rustique contains considerable variation, so the complete patio will include a broader combination of copper, bronze, charcoal and earthy tones.

Smaller paving quantities may also be available for projects that do not require a complete 28.08m² pack.

Frequently asked questions

What colour is Rustique Porcelain?

Rustique combines copper, bronze, charcoal and earthy brown tones. The colouring is designed to imitate the varied appearance of natural slate and weathered stone.

Are all the slabs identical?

No. Variation between the slabs is part of the intended design. Individual slabs will display different patterns and combinations of colour.

What size are the slabs?

Each slab measures approximately 900×600mm and is approximately 16mm thick.

How many slabs are in a full pack?

A full pack contains 52 slabs.

How much does a full pack cover?

A full pack provides approximately 28.08m² of paving coverage, excluding the joints between the slabs.

Does Rustique Porcelain need sealing?

Outdoor porcelain does not normally require routine sealing. Follow the instructions supplied with your installation and maintenance products.

Should I mix slabs from different packs?

Yes. Mixing slabs from different packs helps distribute the colours and patterns evenly across the patio.

Will a sample match my final order exactly?

A sample provides a guide to the colour and surface, but it cannot show every pattern found across a full slab. Separate production batches may also vary slightly.

Can I order additional paving later?

Additional paving may be ordered later, but a new batch may not match the original order exactly. It is best to purchase the complete project quantity together.

Is a primer required during installation?

Yes. A suitable porcelain paving primer should be applied to the underside of the slabs in accordance with the primer manufacturer’s instructions.
