Description
Absolute Black Granite Wall Cladding brings deep black colouring and natural stone texture to garden walls, raised planters, outdoor kitchens and architectural feature walls.
The dark granite creates a strong contrast against lighter porcelain paving, rendered walls, timber, brickwork and planting. Its natural surface adds depth and shadow, helping the finished wall feel more distinctive than a smooth, uniformly coloured tile.
Why choose Absolute Black Granite Cladding?
Absolute Black Granite is suited to outdoor designs where a dark, contemporary finish is required.
Its rich black and charcoal colouring works particularly well alongside grey, white and cream porcelain paving. It can also provide a contrasting border around garden seating areas, water features and raised planting beds.
Benefits include:
- Deep black and charcoal colouring
- Natural textured finish
- Genuine natural granite
- Suitable for garden feature walls
- Suitable for raised planters and outdoor kitchens
- Works with modern and traditional garden designs
- Split packs available for smaller projects
- Full-crate quantities available
- Cut samples available before ordering
Natural colour and texture
As this is a natural granite product, individual pieces will not be completely identical.
Differences in colour, surface texture, markings and thickness are an expected part of the stone’s appearance. Some pieces may appear more consistently black, while others may contain subtle charcoal or lighter mineral details.
The colour may also appear darker when wet than when completely dry.
We recommend viewing several pieces together before installation and mixing material from different boxes. This helps distribute the natural variations across the completed wall.
Where can it be used?
Absolute Black Granite Wall Cladding can be used for a variety of decorative vertical surfaces, including:
- Garden feature walls
- Raised flower beds
- Retaining-wall facing
- Outdoor kitchens
- Barbecue areas
- Entrance walls
- Courtyard features
- Water-feature surrounds
- Exterior façade details
- Interior feature walls where suitable
The supporting wall, adhesive and fixing method must be appropriate for the location, height and weight of the cladding.
Installation guidance
The cladding should be installed onto a clean, stable and suitably prepared surface.
Before installation:
- Check all material for damage and unacceptable variation.
- Measure the area and plan the layout.
- Open several boxes and mix the pieces.
- Dry-position a section to assess the colour and texture.
- Confirm that the supporting wall is suitable for natural stone cladding.
- Use an adhesive and fixing system suitable for natural granite, the substrate and the installation conditions.
Apply the adhesive in accordance with its manufacturer’s instructions and ensure the required coverage is achieved behind each piece.
Additional or mechanical fixing may be needed for certain wall heights, substrates or exposed locations. Seek professional installation advice when there is uncertainty about the wall construction or fixing requirements.
Do not begin installation until the product, quantity, colour and condition have been checked. Installed material is normally considered accepted.
Corners and edges
External corners, wall ends and openings should be planned before installation begins.
Depending on the design, corners may be formed using mitred pieces, carefully selected returns or suitable finishing profiles. Discuss the preferred corner detail with the installer before ordering and cutting the material.
Allow additional material for corners, cuts and damaged pieces.
How much should I order?
Measure the height and width of each wall section to calculate the approximate area in square metres.
Additional material should be allowed for:
- Cuts around corners and openings
- Wall ends and returns
- Natural variation
- Breakages during cutting
- Complex layouts
- Future repairs
Straight walls generally create less waste than walls containing numerous corners, steps, openings or curved sections.
Check the coverage shown in the product specification before ordering and purchase the complete project quantity together wherever possible.
Samples
A 100×100mm cut sample is available for customers who would like to view the colour and texture before purchasing a larger quantity.
A small sample will only display one section of the natural stone. It cannot represent every colour, marking, thickness or surface variation that may appear across a full wall.
Samples should therefore be treated as a useful guide rather than an exact match for every piece in the final order.
Cleaning and maintenance
Remove loose dirt using a soft brush and clean the surface with water or a suitable cleaner intended for natural stone.
Avoid unsuitable acidic or highly abrasive cleaning products. Always test a new cleaner or treatment on a small, inconspicuous section first.
Whether a sealer is appropriate will depend on the location, finish and intended appearance. Only use products confirmed as suitable for natural granite and follow the product manufacturer’s instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Is Absolute Black Granite Cladding suitable for exterior walls?
It can be used for exterior decorative wall applications when installed on an appropriate substrate with a fixing system suitable for natural stone and the installation conditions.
Will every piece be the same colour?
No. Natural variations in colour, texture, markings and thickness are expected. Mixing pieces from different boxes helps create a balanced finished appearance.
Does it look different when wet?
Natural black granite normally appears darker when wet. Product photographs showing both wet and dry conditions can help customers understand this difference.
Can I order a sample?
Yes. A small cut sample is available separately. It provides a guide to the colour and surface but cannot display all the variation found across a complete wall.
What adhesive should be used?
Use an adhesive and fixing system specifically suitable for natural stone, the supporting substrate, the weight of the cladding and the intended environment. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Can it be used on a retaining wall?
It can be used as a decorative facing where the retaining structure, drainage, waterproofing and fixing method are suitable. The cladding itself should not be treated as the structural retaining element.
Should the granite be sealed?
This depends on the installation and desired appearance. Test any compatible natural-stone sealer on an inconspicuous piece before treating the complete wall.
How much extra material should I order?
Allow additional material for cuts, corners, breakages and natural selection. More waste may be required for walls with several corners, openings or complicated details.
