  • Neutral Buff – a warm, sand-coloured finish
  • Stone Grey – a versatile mid-grey shade
  • Basalt – a dark charcoal-coloured finish

Colours shown on screen are intended as a guide. The finished colour may vary depending on the paving material, lighting conditions and installation method.

Where can ROMPOX Easy be used?

ROMPOX Easy is suitable for use on:

  • Garden patios
  • Paths and walkways
  • Terraces
  • Courtyards
  • Pedestrian areas
  • Lightly trafficked areas
  • Natural stone paving
  • Concrete paving
  • Clinker paving
  • Many coated paving surfaces

The paving construction must be suitable for the intended traffic load and allow water to drain correctly.

ROMPOX Easy is not intended for permanently wet areas such as swimming pools, ponds or drainage channels.

Joint requirements

For a standard installation, paving joints should be at least 5mm wide and approximately 30mm deep.

The joints must be clean and free from loose dirt, debris and weeds before application. For areas exposed to vehicle traffic, the joints should be filled to the full depth of the paving slab.

Narrower joints may require additional installation work and should only be completed in accordance with the manufacturer’s technical guidance.

How to apply ROMPOX Easy

1. Prepare the paving

Clean the paving surface and remove all loose material from the joints.

Ensure the joints are deep enough for the intended installation and that the paving is securely laid over a suitable water-permeable base.

2. Thoroughly wet the paving

Pre-wet the paving surface thoroughly before applying the jointing compound.

The surface should remain damp during application, but standing water should not be left inside the joints.

Porous or highly absorbent paving may require repeated wetting during installation.

3. Apply the jointing compound

Open the vacuum-packed bag and spread the ROMPOX Easy across the wet paving.

Once opened, the material should be applied immediately.

Use a suitable broom or rubber squeegee to work the compound thoroughly into the joints.

4. Fill the joints completely

Work diagonally across the paving to ensure the joints are completely filled.

Compact the material into the joints and add more compound where required. Do not leave partially filled or loosely packed joints.

5. Sweep the paving clean

After approximately 10 to 15 minutes, use a soft broom to remove the remaining material from the paving surface.

Sweep diagonally across the joints to avoid pulling the fresh compound out.

Make sure the paving surface is left clean and free from loose material.

6. Protect the completed area

Protect the newly jointed paving from continuous or heavy rain for approximately 24 hours.

Application and curing times will vary depending on temperature, weather conditions, joint dimensions and the paving construction.

Important installation information

ROMPOX Easy can be applied during light drizzle, but it should not be installed during continuous or heavy rain unless the working area can be suitably protected.

The paving must be thoroughly pre-wetted before application. Do not apply the compound to a dry paving surface.

A temporary film or colour enhancement may appear on some paving materials after installation. This normally reduces naturally through weathering and use.

Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area before completing the full installation, particularly when working with sensitive, porous or coated paving.

How much ROMPOX Easy will I need?

The amount required will depend on:

  • The length and width of the paving slabs
  • The joint width
  • The joint depth
  • The total paved area
  • Whether the paving has straight or irregular joints

Smaller paving slabs and wider or deeper joints will use more compound.

Always calculate the required quantity using the dimensions of your paving and allow extra material for site conditions and wastage.

Frequently asked questions

Does ROMPOX Easy need to be mixed?

No. ROMPOX Easy is supplied as a ready-mixed jointing compound inside a vacuum-packed bag. It can be applied directly after opening.

What is the minimum joint width?

The standard minimum joint width is 5mm.

What depth should the joints be?

The joints should normally be approximately 30mm deep. Areas exposed to vehicle traffic may require the joints to be filled to the full depth of the paving.

Can ROMPOX Easy be used on a driveway?

ROMPOX Easy is suitable for lightly trafficked areas when the paving and base construction are appropriate for vehicle use.

For heavier traffic or more demanding driveway installations, a stronger ROMPOX product may be required.

Can ROMPOX Easy be applied in the rain?

It can be applied during light drizzle. The completed area should be protected from continuous or heavy rain for approximately 24 hours.

Does the paving need to be wet before application?

Yes. The paving must be thoroughly pre-wetted before applying ROMPOX Easy. The surface should remain damp, but standing water should not remain inside the joints.

Can ROMPOX Easy be pressure washed?

The completed joints can be cleaned with a suitable pressure washer after the compound has fully cured. Avoid positioning the nozzle too close to the joints.

Can an opened bag be stored?

Opened one-component jointing mortar may be preserved for a limited period by covering it completely with clean water and resealing the container. Follow the manufacturer’s current storage instructions before attempting to reuse opened material.

Is ROMPOX Easy suitable for crazy paving?

Irregular paving and crazy paving often have wide or varying joint dimensions. A different ROMPOX jointing mortar may be more appropriate for these installations.

Which colour should I choose?

Neutral Buff works well with beige, cream and warm-toned paving. Stone Grey provides a versatile finish for most grey paving, while Basalt creates a darker contrast around grey and black paving.
