Kandla sandstone is uniformly grey in colour with slight variations in hue that pepper the stone’s appearance. Originally from India, it has become a popular variety of sandstone in the UK.

Indian Kandla stone is very hardwearing and durable, making it an ideal candidate for paving patios and driveways. With regular maintenance and long-term care (which includes repointing), Kandla stone can comfortably last for at least 50 years, potentially longer.

Unlike more expensive rocks, such as marble, Kandla is naturally slip-proof due to the grainy texture of the sedimentary rock. A great feature for year-round safety, helping to prevent nasty slips and accidents, especially in wet or icy conditions.

‘Kandla’ can also be used to describe the grey colour of other stones, so is also available in porcelain tiles. Kandla porcelain tiles feature the colour of traditional Kandla sandstone tiles with the more modern feel of vitrified porcelain.
